EMDR Therapist Palo Alto
Trauma Therapy in Palo Alto
Trauma therapy is focused on helping individuals understand and recover from traumatic experiences. Trauma can result from a broad spectrum of events such as abuse, attachment difficulties, accidents, loss, sexual assault, violence, racism, natural disasters, and much more. The goal of trauma therapy is to guide clients through the emotional, mental, and physical impacts of trauma, paving the way for healing and a restored sense of well-being. I take a trauma-sensitive approach in my sessions, which integrates various methods that foster a safe, empathetic space that empowers my clients to heal. Additionally, I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an innovative trauma-focused therapy.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR is an evidence-based psychotherapy approach designed to assist individuals in processing and recovering from traumatic memories. Created by Francine Shapiro in the late 1980s, EMDR has been widely recognized as an effective treatment for trauma and PTSD. It combines aspects of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) with bilateral stimulation (such as guided eye movements), helping to reprocess troubling memories. Through my experience, I have seen EMDR as a powerful and effective tool for treating trauma, anxiety, depression, and phobias, supporting deep emotional healing.
